World Cup qualifiers: Nepal beat Chinese Taipei by two goals

KATHMANDU: Nepal defeated Chinese Taipei in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers last night. Nepal defeated Chinese Taipei 2-0 in a match played at the Jaber Al Ahmed International Ground in Kuwait. Anjan Bista scored from the penalty spot in the fourth minute of the match for Nepal.

Nepal was awarded a penalty after a Taipei player touched the ball with his hand. Another goal was scored by Navayug Shrestha in the 81st minute. New Age entered the field in the 69th minute as a changed player. With yesterday's victory, Nepal has managed to defeat Chinese Taipei in both the games of the World Cup qualifiers. Earlier, Nepal had lost 2-0 at home.

Even though Nepal has 6 points in the table, the possibility of playing in the World Cup qualifiers is almost over. But the possibility of entering the third round of the Asian Cup selection remains. Similarly, Chinese Taipei is scoreless. Nepal is in Group B and Australia is at the top with 15 points in 5 games. Nepal is playing against Jordan next Monday and Australia on the 28th.
